Greetings from Corensic! We’re a startup based in Seattle (formerly known as PetraVM) whose mission is to fuel the multi-core revolution by enabling software developers and IT organizations to build higher quality software.
Our first product is Jinx, a tool that will help you improve the quality of your applications when they are running in a multi-core environment. Jinx makes your code “unlucky” by forcing hard-to-find concurrency bugs to occur with more frequency while you are debugging. It can be integrated into your build and test environments and is designed to improve the debugging experience and increase test coverage for multithreaded software projects. Jinx significantly improves the software development process by reducing the amount of time you spend hunting for elusive errors in multithreaded applications and enabling you to focus more efforts on solving business problems and meeting customer needs. Learn more about Jinx or Download Jinx for Windows or Jinx for Linux.
We’re pleased today to be shipping Beta 2 of Jinx for Windows and Jinx for Linux. Both of these products will help you uncover elusive concurrency errors in your code. As one of our customers has told us, "Jinx is invaluable at nailing down obscure bugs no other tool is likely to even notice!"
Jinx is easy to use. You can download and install it in minutes, configure it in even less time, and start finding bugs in your code immediately. It works the way you do, integrated into Visual Studio 2010 on Windows and can be plugged into your development processes on Linux. And it’s reliable. You can count on Jinx. When it finds a bug, it’s definitely a bug. There are no false positives when using Jinx.
Jinx for Windows now finds bugs faster and more reliably than before. And Jinx for Linux includes many of the features developers and testers have come to know and love about Jinx for Windows, except it's penguin friendly!
As you might have noticed, our name is unusual. It's a combination of "Core" and "Forensics," meaning we provide forensic information on the quality of your multi-core software. We’re developers who have worked on some of the world’s biggest, gnarliest software projects, and our passion is helping other developers and IT professionals get better quality out of their applications. We know first-hand the challenge of writing applications in the brave, new world of multi-core processors. We’ve lived it, breathed it, and pulled all-nighters fixing bugs in our past software projects because of it. Our products are designed to make it easier for you to build modern software by letting you build on our knowledge and experience in ferreting out these hard to find concurrency errors. Our team is comprised of veterans from Google, Microsoft, Isilon, nVidia, and the University of Washington and combined has decades of expertise in designing and testing enterprise-grade software and tools with deep knowledge of multi-core hardware and software.
We hope you like what we’ve built and are looking forward to your feedback. Head over to our Forums and let us know what you think, or find us on Twitter.
We have some exciting products and features in the pipeline, and are looking forward to your feedback to help guide us along the way. If you're interested in filling out a short product survey after using Jinx, we'd be happy to send you a free t-shirt!
