New Nintendo Direct: Latest Announcements & Game Reveals
Here’s the latest rundown from the recent Nintendo Direct, featuring all the major announcements and game reveals that got fans buzzing. If you missed it, don’t worry I’ve got the highlights, plus my personal takes on what stood out the most.
Metroid Prime 4: Beyond Finally Gets a Trailer
It’s been seven years since Metroid Prime 4 was first announced, and we FINALLY got a proper look at Metroid Prime 4: Beyond! The trailer showed Samus in action with stunning visuals, fast-paced combat, and what seems to be a darker, more atmospheric tone.
I’ve been a Metroid Prime fan since the GameCube days, so this reveal was like Christmas morning. The developers hinted at new mechanics that will push the series forward while keeping the classic exploration and puzzle-solving elements. No exact release date yet, but it’s coming in 2025 so, the wait isn’t over, but at least we know it’s real!
Pokémon Legends: Z-A Announced
Okay, this one took me by surprise. Pokémon Legends: Z-A is the next evolution of the Legends series, this time set in Lumiose City from Pokémon X & Y. This means a more urban setting compared to Arceus’ open wilderness.
What got me most excited? Mega Evolutions are back! I loved this mechanic in X & Y, and I’m pumped to see how it’ll be integrated into this open-world Pokémon experience. Game Freak hasn’t dropped a ton of details yet, but the game is expected to release sometime in 2025.
Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition
For RPG fans, this was a huge win. Xenoblade Chronicles X was one of the most ambitious games on the Wii U, and now it’s finally getting the remaster treatment for Switch.
I remember playing the original and being completely overwhelmed (in a good way) by the massive world of Mira. The Switch version is bringing enhanced visuals, new story content, and improved mechanics. Mark your calendars for March 20, 2025 this is one of the biggest RPGs coming next year.
Kirby: Planet Robobot Remastered
One of the best Kirby games is making a return! Planet Robobot is being remastered for the Switch, bringing back the mech-powered action that made it such a unique entry in the series.
The original was a hidden gem on the 3DS, and I’m so glad more people will get to experience it. New copy abilities and enhanced visuals are expected, but we’re still waiting on a release date.
The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker Switch Port Confirmed
Rumors have been swirling for years, and finally, Nintendo is bringing The Wind Waker to the Switch. No big remaster just a straight-up port, but honestly, that’s fine because the HD version on Wii U still looks incredible.
This is one of my favorite Zelda games of all time, and if you’ve never played it, now’s your chance. Expect a 2024 holiday release.
Other Notable Announcements
- Donkey Kong Country Returns HD – The classic platformer is back with smoother gameplay and some bonus levels.
- Fire Emblem: Echoes – Shadows of Valentia Remake – A Switch version of the beloved 3DS game is in development.
- Mario Kart 8 Deluxe – Final DLC Pack – More tracks, more characters, and supposedly, the last content update for MK8D.
Final Thoughts
This was one of the best Nintendo Directs we’ve had in a while. Metroid Prime 4, Pokémon Legends: Z-A, Xenoblade Chronicles X it feels like Nintendo is finally bringing out some long-awaited heavy hitters.
